Last year Our group from Salem Baptist Church took a ESU electro surgical cutter for the OR to replace the broken one they had been using. This year we will be bring infusion pumps and blood pressure machines as well as other medical supplies. I need another cutter for a clinic there on Catanduanes, I leave May 12, 1998. We still need some 220/110 volt transformers.

Contemplating to apply one website after retirement; coming soon!

I'm introducing myself as one of your proud guests. Congratulations and long live the Catanduanes Medical International Associations. I am also, the proud father of Knef V. Lizaso Jr. a recent graduate of Medicine from UCSF last 5/22/98. I apoligized for intoducing also my son (Knef Jr.) without his knowledged to your Medical Association last 5/20/98. My son (Knef Jr.) corrected my writings and the misspelled "Medecine". I beleived Engineers are poor in spelling, so I've learned some lessons as a results of my excitement upon opening your website on the internet that very evening of 5/20/98. Anyway, please count on us to join your mission in June 1999. Regard to all Catanduganoons!

I salute the CIAI for this webpage as well as your coming medical mission. I really wish I could present in your activities. But sooner or later, I may be able to contribute to your worthy cause. I stayed for two years(1960-1963) in Virac as an English and Math teacher at Catanduanes College. The CATANDUNGANONS are a very special breed of people. My short stay in Virac has made that wonderful town and its people a part of my being. Among the many wonderful people I know in Virac are the SORAs, the GUERERROs, the VARGASes, the TABUZOs, the GIANANs, the ARCILLAs,the VALDERRAMAs of Viga, and many others whom I wish I could remember their names.
Send me your literature at:

Hi! What a beautiful webpage you have created for this laudable project of helping your people. I have a Catandunganon "blood" in my veins through my Dad whose Mom is from that place and so I feel close to this place too. I hope someday I can set foot on this beautiful place as what I have learned from my Grandparents. Good luck.

I wish to salute the CIAI for their 1999 MISSION OF LOVE to the people of Catanduanes. I am considering to join your mission as a volunteer from Manila in order to cure my Grandpa Chris' nostalgia. He tells us that there is a special trait of the Catandungan which is very rarely found in the Filipino. I do not have any plans to go to the USA even if my Dad and brothers are there. Do send a personal invitation to: NOEMELYN RAMAYRAT, D.D.M. 785 P. Noval Street, Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. PARA SA MGA TAGA VIRAC: VISIT ME IN MY CLINIC AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS. We are in the process of soliciting medical equipments and supplies. So far I have 4 boxes of medical supplies on hand and 6 other hospitals in Los Angeles have promised to help me the much needed medicine. To those in the medical field, please help us procure samples and thrown away medical supplies be it injectable, oral medicine and or surgical supplies from betadine to disposable gowns and drapes. To those not in the medical field, we will have a section of people giving away old clothes. So if you or your friends have old clothes, you can save them for our medical mission. Thank you and see you there. E. Velasco, M.D.

We are in the process of soliciting medical equipments and supplies. So far, we have 4 boxes of medical supplies ready for shipment, but we still need more of these. I have been promised by 6 hospitals in Los Angeles that they will help us procure our much needed medications. To our Doctors , Nurses, Med-Tech,Resp.Therapist,etc., please start asking for disposable medical supplies be it from betadine to disposable gowns and drapes. We also need samples of oral medications and injectables. We will have a screening section wherein Medtechs will do blood sugar, cholesterol and hemocult screening. So we need disposable lancets, glucometers, multistix etc. To those not in the medical field , we will have a section wherein we will distribute old clothes. The people from Catanduanes specifically requested for this. So if you or your friends have old clothes ( T-shirts and those appropriate for hot weather) please save them for our mission. Thank you and see you there.

Hi, Auntie Baby. First time to check out your site, and I'm impressed. I would love to join everybody on the next mission there but my third little peanut is due to arrive around that time. I would although, like to offer a suggestion. I have gone back there 4 times over the last 2 years and have noticed a lack of emergency system. Each time I've gone back, I've brought along first-aid kits and other things which although i know is not nearly enough, at least it's a start. My thing was to somehow teach selected people in each baranggay to respond to their emergencies and have a ready plan of action (much like the EMS system here in Chicago) except for the bells and whistles. So far, I'm working on Cavinitan's and when we get it up and running, maybe others will follow suit. I'm a nurse at Cook County Hospital Trauma Unit so things like that concern me very much. Thanks for giving us a place to visit (your website) and remember...

Hi Baby Amador-Guerrero (Miss Universe) and Joe, Your love and concern for the least of God's children is commendable. Keep up the good work. I am glad to be a part of this humanitarian endeavor. Being with your group for the second medical mission in 1996 afforded me the opportunity to help some of our less fortunate kababayans, in some small ways. It made me feel good. The medical mission is not only for those in the medical field -- it's for all those who really care.

Welcome home to all participants of 3rd Medical Mission at Virac, Catanduanes, Philippines

Ric S. Buan

Jul 23, 1999 20:43

A message.... "Mission Accomplished", boldly said words which truly brought extraordinary experience of human compassion, fulfillment and happiness in the hearts of the young and adults who in one way or the other unselfishly shared their time and efforts during the 3rd Medical Mission in Virac, Catanduanes. As the chairperson (a.k.a. Babysitter, as some of the youth jokingly named me) for the children and young adults who were involved and provided support services in the areas of Surgery, Pediatrics, Consultation stations and Pharmacy, I would like to personally express my sincere gratitude for a job well done. You may have not noticed it, but I'm very proud of you guys. You have demonstrated that at a very young age (youngest is 10yrs. old), you have the ability to adapt and willingly share with the sacrifice your parents may have gone through to make this mission possible. I admire your parents for making it possible for you to go through all these experiences. I'm sure you've gained a lot of positive experience in this mission which can never be otherwise attained inside the classroom or campus. I hope that the relationship that developed among each one of you which is known as friendship becomes stronger. Keep in touch with one another and continue to touch somebody's life. Once again, I salute you for mission accomplished and I'm proud to be your babysitter. May the good Lord bless and keep you always. As for my personal experience, at first, I have a strong reservation about the medical mission due to job issues and financial matters I have to deal with and satisfy first, before I could even attempt making our flight reservation. I was at the point of desperation, the mood inside my home was hurtingly indescribable, sadness seemed to be eating everyone. Finally, I turned to HIM and said, "Lord it is your will and not mine that will be done, if you want me to join this medical mission, please help me find the resources". I believe anyone who read this message could guess what happened. GOD BLESS ALL THE LEADERS AND PARTICIPANTS OF THIS MISSION!

Virgilia(Baby)Guerrero

As Co-Chairperson of this year medical mission to Catanduanes I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the volunteer doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists, the lay volunteers and the youth who participated in this humanitarian endeavor for sharing their precious time with us. Without you we could have never achieved our goal of helping and caring for our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Catanduanes. To all our donors and benefactors, thank you for your gift of love and sharing. To all our hosts for housing us and entertaining us, I thank you for your wonderful hospitality. And lastly, to all the patients we cared for, thank you for allowing us to appreciate the beauty of God's gift of Life.I always believed that a big heart is loveliest when embraced with KINDNESS. And I am sure everybody in the mission have"bigger hearts". Dr. Guerrero

I have recently heard of the very successful medical ission you had in Catanduanes. Congratulations for a job well done. This world would be a much bette place if only everybody would think of what good deeds you can do for the people instead of squabbling and fighting uselessly for pride and self agrandisement . Keep up the good works.

Benito D. Quintana, Jr.

Aug 21, 1999 17:03

Congratulations to the participants of the recently concluded Third Medical Mission in Virac. Catanduanes. Based on first hand accounts, indeed it was worthwhile cause and rewarding experience for all. My Brod told me that he could not express his satisfaction derived from helping those poor and sick people. Nothing can compare with the sense of fulfillment, he said, which can only be felt from the heart. He has witnessed the sincerity of those people by simply uttering a "Thank you" or "Mabalos". That, in itself, more than made up for the exhaustion, heat and other petty sacrifices that goes with the mission. I would also like to tip my hat off to the surprising adaptability of our "stateside" youth volunteers - knowing fully well that they're spoiled brats over here. They really worked hard from what I heard. At first, I thought that all I'll hear from them are mostly complaints - the weather, flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, unpleasant surroundings, etc. But, hey guys, I admit I was wrong. We're so proud of you all. This is why your parents brought you there in the first place; to understand where they came from, to see your heritage. It is all our hope that the camaraderie you felt between yourselves will have lasting memories, and that you will continue to keep the closeness by keeping in touch with each other. Hoping too that with the unforgettable experience, you will encourage your peers to do the same. It was just too bad I wasn't able to make it, due to prior commitments beyond my control. Certainly, there are feelings of guilt and regret since I was the only one in my family that didn't go. Hopefully, and with God's help and mercy, I may still make it in the next mission. Of course, all the accolades would not be complete if I do not mention the driving forces behind all these. And they are the officers of the CIA & CAUSA who, without their leadership and hard work, would not have made this mission a success. The same appreciation also goes to the hospitality and generosity of the provincial and municipal officials and workers, as well as the staff and employees of the EBMC. More power to you all and keep up the excellent work. God bless you all. Sincerely, Benito D. Quintana. Jr. P.S. My mother, Mrs. Amparo D. Quintana, whom everyone fondly calls "Tia Paring", has asked me to notify everyone who needs to contact her, to send them to my E-mail address below: yongnlynnq@earthlink.net This is especially true if you're having a hard time trying to reach her. Thanks. DITTO
